Today was a blast. Drove to nearby Ohiopyle with a friend I met off couchsurfing dot com. Had a blast. The water levels were high making for some 4-level rapids which normally would have been 3. Met some people, got pulled over on the way there going much too fast. Was driving with my new friend. Here's a photo of the adventure.
Ate at a countryside restaurant near the rapids that had an all you can eat "Smorgasbord". The place has been open for over 60 years, very traditional. Amazing how traditional has become non-traditional with the influx of the diversity of Chicago--new restaurants, etc.
Anyway, tonight just recovered a bit and took a walk around the city, played R & R bingo at Tiki Lounge on Carson St. Bingo was invented in Pittsburgh. Funny host, had to leave and catch z's and try to plan my day for tomorrow.
I'm driving to Philadelphia, going to see that legendary city where John Adams and all the forefathers laid out the blueprint to the greatest democracy(besides Athens)to ever exist. It's going to be pretty much always sunny there for the next few days, looking forward to good weather and scenic drives and fun touring as I make my way to NYC for the weekend. Got a f
ew Couchsurfing requests in for tomorrow night. Worried about wildlife near campgrounds in this hillier area of the country(bears), but I will camp to save money or book a cheaper room on Airbnb if I have to. CS was a great tool for Pittsburgh so I think I will find somewhere to sleep. Thinking about the folk music fest for Thursday. I need to connect with fellow travelers, that is one of my goals. Always fun to travel with those whose priority is also leisure.
I will leave it at that. Too much screen time for a vacation, headed out in the am. See you tomorrow!
