Just like Billy Joel sang...
Sadly left behind Philly after a fun night of drinking with new friends. There was a food truck fest the night before and I stayed out at the bars. Note to self, don't drink the night before having to enter New Jersey and having no idea which way you're going or where you're staying.
I ate breakfast at a nice cafe in fish town that sold records. I had the notorious e g g with turkey sausage with some coffee. Then I went back to Dora's place and researched where the hell I was gonna go on the jersey shore. There are a lot of towns. I found a campsite and through it in my GPS. I took 70 straight through New Jersey. The campsite wasn't there so I went to a camping store who had a handy directory and the guy put me in the direction of the state park on the shore but no camping was allowed with tents. So I took a closer look and found a place close to LBI. I reserved a room and went for ride to see some of the damage from hurricane Sandy. Then I stopped in seaside heights and walked along the magnificent boardwalk and ate a dozen raw clams in the half shell w cocktail sauce. And a deep fried twinkie. Driving home took a while. I had to go about 25 miles. Didn't realize it was that far. Paid a toll the old school way by throwing the coins in the basket. Stopped at a convenience store called Cumberland stop or something like that. Very cool sign. I felt like I was in another place and time in america. Jersey is a trip.
Some guy helped me set up my tent with the help of his gas lantern which was very bright. My battery operated lantern was not working even with the brand new D batteries. First time I've made the tent without putting up the rain fly. But no worries there-its gonna be dry as a bone all weekend.
Tried to watch the new wolverine movie that I bit torrented but the sound was too bad.
Through some old food out from last weekend.I can't believe I've been traveling a week. It doesn't feel like it.
Tomorrow is Saturday and time to let loose. I haven't decided whether to kayak, water ski, or try to paddle board. There is also a 5 k race that could be fun and a clam bake before that. I'm going to rent a room tomorrow right on the shore.
Then it's off to home most likely or possibly New York City. But that's just more traffic to fight. Not sure how much I have left in me.
Talk to you later,
