This city is beautiful. Of course, Pittsburgh was great in my opinion so this city just blew me out of the water. Everybody keeps talking about Chicago and how great it is but these cities are fantastic. Arrived finally at 5pm after sitting in some traffic and getting lost trying to find a gas station in rural Pennsylvania in a town straight out of Kingpin or Groundhog Day. I ate a bite of pizza at Jake's with a guy sitting across from me who couldn't afford any food so he just ate out of the cheese shaker. Also, somebody almost hit me on the highway, they pulled in front of me, but we were almost at a stand still, it wasn't a near fatal collision or anything. I did see another small car accident though. Beautiful, perfect weather today in this city, the climate is definitely warmer than Chicago. I downloaded and printed out a self-guided walking tour and saw all the historically important buildings like the ones they used to convene during the months leading into the Revolutionary War, and buildings used when Philadelphia was the Capitol of the US. Saw the liberty bell. All these things sound touristy but they were great to finally see in person.
Checked into my room, I found a great deal on airbnb for 35, it's a room on the 3rd floor of an old rowhome in Philly proper. Great deal, and a parking space miraculously opened up as I pulled in. Parking fairy was on my side.
I went out for the evening around 845. I waited for the bus for almost 30 minutes, then walked to Fado, where the couchsurfing group was a team in trivia night. I didn't find them, even after asking a bunch of tables.
I landed at a bar and talked to some locals, everybody was great. I had a fun night overall. Tomorrow is another day, probably going to head to the Folk Music Festival. I should probably tour more tomorrow morning however. Right now I will research a bit more then hit the sack.
Sorry, no photos uploaded at this time. See you tomorrow.
